Day Tripping: New York City Recap
With another Bomb Cyclone staring down the North East, I opted to cancel my flight home to Providence and stay in New York City Thursday night in order to make it to a special segment with High Snobiety. The Sneaker Show Round Table discussion series highlights different aspects of sneaker culture, and pairs guests with various topics. I was faced with a double header, first a conversation on Reselling and its impact on the sneaker industry, and the second unpacking why Air Max Day is a thing (if it should be at all).
While both segments will be edited down into three minute videos, I found myself in conversation for nearly two hours with BK (BKTHeGod on IG). A true aficionado for the brand, BK swapped stories about Supreme's early roots, and shared with me some of his incredible collection, including a Rammellzee x Supreme backpack (pictured below).
Both segments will probably release within the next month, so I'll be sure to share them with you guys if you're curious to listen to the conversation. Before filming, I had a chance to checkout Kith's new three-story location. As impressive as it was impeccably merchandised, I loved that each floor had its own shopping experience. The customer service was amazing, and I ended up grabbing a salmon-colored Stone Island hoodie I desperately needed for the shoot that afternoon (living out of a suitcase for the past week I had exhausted my wardrobe).
After the filming, I linked with two of my Babson alumni friends, and participated in a Cycle For Survival charity event. The cause raises money for charity, and each event focuses on different corporate segments. Among the teams were employees from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, which made it a cool networking event, even though my ass is still not any closer to getting verified :(
Overall I can't believe how much was packed into one short day, and I'm super relieved to be headed home to catch on videos and shipping out orders from Come Up Store from my time in Portland. Thanks for taking the time to read this far and hope you have an awesome weekend!
